Jetting
From time-to-time sewage lines become blocked and many of us just can’t understand why! I don’t put anything down the sink I shouldn’t do!
Apart from putting obvious things down the toilet or sink that we know might cause a problem; there are many other items that simply do cause blockages.
For example, washing machine detergent can and quite often builds up in the drain, causing the drain to reduce in size and finally causes a blockage.
Although detergent sets like concrete, it is usually a simple task of jetting the line with specialist equipment.
However, external factors may be the problem. Drains can become fractured or literally broken in half by a land slip or subsidence. Old clay pipes are
susceptible to fracture and the ingress of tree roots. Tree roots whilst not particularly difficult to remove, are difficult to explain to the poor unsuspecting
property owner. Here’s how they become a problem. They literally grow into the drain over a period of time, grow larger and then when something like a strong
paper towel goes down the drain, it snags on the root and causes an instant blockage.
